Reaching Your Goals in 2025: One Step at a Time

Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, I’m reflecting on a personal achievement that has inspired me to think about how we set and pursue our goals, both personally and professionally.

Fitness has always been a big part of my life. From learning to swim as a toddler to biking for hours around the neighborhood and sporting fashionable leggings to aerobics classes in the 80s, it’s no surprise that fitness goals have become second nature for me. So, when I set a challenge for myself in 2024, it wasn’t a stretch—but the final push on December 31 might just inspire you.

I’ve been a Peloton user since Covid—taking spin classes, strength training, yoga, and more. This year, I signed up for their annual challenge: starting with 1,000 minutes of fitness and striving for 5,000 minutes, and so on. By December 1, I realized I was close to hitting 15,000 minutes on the Peloton app, but it would require a daily commitment of more than 60 minutes. As December 31 approached, I found myself 2 ½ hours short of the goal!

After two dog walks and two yoga sessions, I reached my target. The reward was simply a sense of accomplishment and pride. And while it may sound small, this experience holds a bigger lesson: the way we approach goals—whether fitness, business, or personal—matters.

As you set your own goals for 2025, remember that resolutions can be fleeting, but accountability and small, consistent steps make all the difference. Maybe you need an accountability partner, even a digital partner works like getting my daily blue dot on Peloton hitting my 10,000 steps goal on FitBit.

Here’s how to make your 2025 goals a reality:

  1. Start with why – Why have you set this goal? Understanding your motivation is key to staying on track. My fitness motivation is part of my DNA, but it’s also an investment in my older self. I want to be able to play pickleball in my 80s. That is possible with every fitness goal I achieve today.

  2. Visualize your success – What does success look like at the end of 2025? Be clear on your end result. And challenge yourself to a stretch goal. If it’s too easy, it’s just a routine and doesn’t lead to growth. Perhaps even set a goal that seems impossible today, but with the right planning, you can get there.

  3. Plan your steps – Break it down and write it down. What do you need to do every day, week, or month to move closer to your goal? Keep track of your milestones and celebrate your wins, no matter how small.

Whether it’s fitness, healthy eating, quitting a bad habit, starting a good habit, or growing your business, take it one step at a time. The first step is identifying your goal. The next step is making a plan—and committing to it.

Ready to make 2025 your best year yet? Let’s do this! And if you need more than a digital partner, give me a call. I'd love to help you plan your 2025 goals and help you achieve your vision!
