Have you ever felt that your dreams are out of reach? No matter how hard you work, the perfect job, relationships, or life you’ve always wanted just feels beyond your grasp? What if the key to achieving everything you want isn’t about working harder, but about creating the space to receive what’s already on its way?

That’s the insight I gained after completing Cathy Heller’s 21-Day Abundance Challenge. What I realized is that it’s not about chasing after success or constantly striving for more—it’s about opening ourselves up to receive the good things already available in our lives.

One of the first affirmations in the challenge was, “I am a magnet for infinite possibilities. Abundance flows to me effortlessly and joyfully.” Initially, this sounded uplifting but also a bit abstract. Over time, I learned that abundance isn’t something we chase; it’s letting go of resistance and trusting that what we need will come at the right time.

My Own Journey of Abundance

When I use a different lens to review my own life, I realize I was never lacking. I’ve certainly faced challenges – losing my mom at 14, learning I carried the BRCA 1 mutation, job layoffs, and other personal setbacks. But every challenge brought opportunities. And when I trusted in those opportunities, good things happened.

After yet another failed relationship in my 20’s, I decided to stop trying so hard to attract the right partner and just have fun. That’s when I met Mike, and we’ve been together for nearly 30 years. Abundance.

When I was in between jobs a few years ago, I was so confident that an offer was coming, I splurged and purchased an expensive pair of boots. A few days later, two job offers presented themselves, and I was able to choose the one I really wanted. Abundance.

When I experienced that job loss, Mike was also in between jobs. That felt like a clear sign that we needed to move back to Nashville to be closer to Mike’s parents. If we had moved back on my original timeline, Mike wouldn’t have had as much time with his dad before he passed. Abundance.

These experiences were opportunities that led me to exactly where I am today—feeling abundant in ways I hadn’t fully understood before.

The Importance of Receiving

One of the most powerful lessons from the abundance challenge was the idea of receiving. Cathy Heller encourages us to shift our mindset from wanting to receiving. Abundance doesn’t come when we demand it or chase after it with desperation; it arrives when we allow ourselves to be open to it.

For me, this has meant opening my heart and hands to the opportunities, connections, and blessings life offers—without the constant need to control or question how they will manifest. I’ve learned that letting go of resistance—whether it’s anxiety about the future or fear of what others think—creates the space for abundance to flow naturally.

I’m not just waiting for miracles to happen; I’m actively co-creating by doing the work, staying consistent, and remaining open to the unexpected. As I continue to reach out to potential clients and build relationships, I trust that what I need is already on its way.

Aligning Mind, Body, and Heart

True abundance requires a holistic approach. It’s not just about having the right mindset, though mindset is certainly crucial. It’s about syncing your mind, body, and heart into a harmonious flow.

In the challenge, I was reminded to focus on my mantra for 2025: “Focused, Fearless, and Flourishing.” This affirmation grounds me when I feel scattered or fearful, reminding me that I have the power to shape my future through intention.

But it’s not all mental work. I’ve realized that being in the moment—whether it’s dancing to a song that makes me feel alive or taking a moment to pause and appreciate the simple beauty around me—connects me to the present. And when I’m present, I feel the flow of abundance all around me.

Stay tuned for more thoughts on abundance next week.
